It's the night before the team start and time for some good Karma. Saturday night we were home bailing out our basement in one of the worst thunderstorms I've ever seen. Sunday our plane was delayed 4 hours before we sat on the runway another hour and Monday Eileen & I found out our bikes would not be delivered as scheduled and may not even be here Tuesday for our 4:00 inspection. It was right down to the wire, the bikes got here at 1:30, giving us little time to get them put together, take a little test ride and get down to the pier. Fortunately we did not receive any time penalties and are ready to rock and roll tomorrow.
The bike delay was really a pretty big deal, having packed bike shoes, helmet, glasses, cold weather gear and a bunch more in the bike cases. We really couldn't take the chance and with no guarantee they would arrive on time, had to have a back up plan. We lined up some bikes at the Performance Bike Shop, that means completely setting it up with aerro bars and bar end shifters, etc, and setting aside all of the gear we would need, worse case scenario. I'm sure they were hoping for a huge sale, but will have to settle for a thank you letter. It was pretty nice of them to spend that much time helping us knowing we may not need anything. Now I really just can't wait to get on my bike and ride. We start at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow and immediately change to the Eastern Time zone. An interesting week ahead, indeed.
